Press Release Body: Pittsford, NY: Watts up? PROT is a \"plug-load\" meter that measures, displays and logs the amount of electricity used by whatever is connected to its 3-pin line socket. Fast, intuitive, and easy-to-use, Watts up? PROT quickly and accurately shows the consumption of any 110V product up to 15A. Watts up? PROT incorporates sophisticated digital electronics which enables high-frequency sampling of both voltage and current measurements for true power. Power factor is also captured, so even phase-shifted loads such as motors can be accurately measured. Weighing less than 2 lbs, this compact (7\" x 4\" x 2\") UL-listed power meter is fed by a 6' electric cord, and is designed for precise monitoring of indoor electrical equipment. Watts up? PROT uses a USB interface to analyze and plot power consumption on a PC. Software provided automatically graphs up to 19 parameters, and data can be exported to popular spreadsheet and word processor programs for further analysis of peak consumption, unwanted usage, costs-sharing, power budgets, etc. Also included is a neat integrated analysis tool, called the Payback Calculator, which can calculate the time required for a new energy-efficient appliance to pay for itself, compared with an existing power-hungry device. Watts up? PROT shows: current watts, minimum watts, maximum watts, power factor, cumulative watt hours, average monthly kilowatt hours, tier 2 kilowatt hour threshold (used to calculate secondary kWh rates), elapsed time, cumulative cost, average monthly cost, line volts, minimum volts, maximum volts, current amps, minimum amps, and maximum amps. Real-world energy costs can be entered (from $0.001 to $85.00 per kWhr) so the actual appreciation of energy usage is immediate. Stop/overwrite memory mode allows storage of up to 32,000 power-use records, but in automatic mode with all parameters being recorded, the storage is approximately 1000 records. Optional Real Time Logging software is available for applications when the meter can be constantly PC-connected, updating as fast as once per second, with data displayed either as a table or graph. Log files can be automatically saved once an hour, for instance, with graphing options include strip chart and averaging. Alarms and alerts can be established based on user-configured thresholds for single or multiple parameters. Visual, audible or email alarms can be activated if power consumption exceeds 100W, or the power supply voltage falls below 105V, for instance. Watts up? PROT is optionally available with IEC 320 universal outlets instead of integrated USA-style cords, allowing for worldwide CE-marked use at up to 240V 15A 50/60 Hz. Watts up? PROT which will rapidly pay for itself, is available now at $129.00 from stock from Saelig Co. Inc.
